As the summer season of 2021 approaches, and we all shift from pandemic mode to let’s finally get out of the house mode, the way we will dress will also shift. We are all tired of loungewear, and now everyone is ready to throw on a slip dress and some slinky heels, or pair a micro mini with some sneakers and get back to the world around them. I think it is time we all play dress up in Summer 2021. Life is ready to go back to normal, but I don’t quite think the trends are!
The 2021 Bralette
We might want to go out and dress up, but the pandemic has made us rethink dressing up. It is all about looking effortless when you dress up and jazzing up a simple bralette is the perfect way to go this summer. Pair it with some slouchy trousers, a midi skirt, or a see-through mesh top and you have yourself an elevated bralette look!
The Cutout Look
Asymmetry and cut outs have been a recent trend in the fashion world for the past couple of years. Although this year, there seems to be a twist. Lots of runway looks from the recent fashion weeks from this past year have shown lots of midriff being exposed and straps that tie around the waist. It is all about highlighting the feminine form. Show them curves girl and expose that beautiful belly. Check out these examples and try them out for yourself!
Bright Colors
It is time to stand out and feel good in what you wear! Try something new this summer and have fun with color. Go with a monochromatic color look, mix some green and orange, or pink and blue. Color was all over the runway and the streets of the fashion capitals of the world. Look for yourself!
The Male Trouser Look
Oversized trousers are the “it” item for this summer. Find some high waisted, old man slacks from a second clothing store that fit just right (you might have to really search for them, but it is worth it), tie a belt around your waist and put a white sleeveless T shirt with it. Find some oversized old jeans, cut them off so they are right at your knee, and pair them with a dainty crop top and some strappy heels! There are so many ways to spruce up a pair of trousers or oversized jeans, so look below and find a style you want to try.
Red Carpet Attire
Dressing fancy and being extra is in! Try on that sparkly dress in your closet you barely wear and pair it with some sandals and a blazer and call it a day. We have spent more than half the year in sweats, so why not show off what you never get to wear. Life is too short!
Outfits that don’t Make Sense
There are not any certain words that can completely describe this look, but if I had to pick here a few that come to mind, eclectic, grandma chic, the oxymoron of fashion, and random. The biggest overall trend I have noticed within runway looks and streetstyle, which is where I get most of the inspiration for my own style, is that anything goes. Take a midi dress, put it with an oversized coat, a bucket hat and socks and sandals. It might not make sense, but it somehow looks good together! Try an oversized blazer and wear it as a dress with some crazy high knee boots, because why not.
All Things Parisian
Recently, I have been on a Parisian craze. I love the current aesthetic that is Parisian lifestyle, fashion, and culture. Their style is the epitome of simple, effortless elegance. In Paris, they run errands in sundresses and sandals, or go get a quick croissant for breakfast in a mini skirt, blazer, and Prada penny loafers. There is no such thing as active wear, and I love that they take the time to dress up and express their style. It is modern elegance.
